Friends and neighbors, I find it very appropriate that World Kindness Day will fall ten days after our Election Day. I’m sure you will agree that politics have felt more than usually divisive this year. We could have many long debates about why this is so, but I’m more interested in the everyday things we can do to heal those divisions. Simple acts of kindness can bring us together again. We as a community have a long tradition of kind words and neighborly acts. Let’s celebrate these everyday moments that bring us together.

The long, cold winter will be on us soon, and it will be longer and colder if we isolate ourselves emotionally. Politics and elections come and go like seasons, but we will still be living together after they’re gone. Let’s keep our community strong by caring for each other, because regardless of creed or party, we are all in this together.

Thanks!
