The Fourth of July at Fort Seward continued this year with many thanks to Jim Shook, for blasting the cannon with the fundraising panties a record of 83 feet; to Patty Brown, the winner, for generously offering her 50/50 portion back to the Community Marching Band (which is currently fundraising for a bass drum and cymbals, since members are tired of lugging these heavy concert instruments borrowed from the school); to Mark Davis for playing taps while his father, Matt, and brother, John, were lowering the flag; to Tom Morphet, for leading everyone to sing “The Star Spangled Banner;” to DYNAFLOW (Fred Shields, Greg Horner, Mark Carroll and Andy Berry) for entertaining us with their free rock ‘n’ roll concert; and, lastly, to all of you for showing up (to this easily socially distanced/family-friendly venue) to help keep traditions alive.
