It is regrettable that the museum board of directors has decided to let go director Helen Alten.
She is highly professional and has brought the museum and Haines much positive attention. She has been successful in finding grants to help sustain the museum’s meager budget, and has done some innovative fundraising, e.g. The Totem Trot (which would ordinarily be happening this month).
She created a children’s museum within the Haines Sheldon Museum to introduce children to the history of Haines and the value of artifacts. Helen also brought to town her charming husband Tim, who as receptionist at the museum served as Haines’ unofficial ambassador.

Perhaps the board should rethink its decision. and confer with Helen for a possible solution to this crisis.
