Thank you, Mayor Jan Hill, for your hard work and long hours during these trying times.

Thank you to all of the volunteers for your hard work and long hours (EOC, mask makers, elderly care, visits, etc.) Volunteers are charity workers by choice. They have pride in themselves. They feel good about what they do—it warms their heart.

It’s a priceless feeling. Everyone does not have the gift of being a volunteer. It really takes a special giving, understanding person to be one. Volunteers are greatly respected and appreciated by the community. It is too bad that some assembly members do not have the same compassion as volunteers do. To certain members of the assembly, shame on you.

The world is in a crisis. Lives have been lost, businesses closed. So many people in our community are desperately waiting for unemployment. In case some have forgotten, the pandemic has affected all of us.

Shame on you for even considering a stipend increase and volunteer pay. Perhaps you could find a loop-hole in the COVID-19 relief funding from the Cares Act and call such payments “The Covid-19 Awards.” If you really think such payments are indeed necessary, I feel sorry for you. What a wayward soul you must have. A few egotistic assembly members have to get over themselves and focus on what is best for the community and the budget.
