It would have been refreshing and enlightening had Tesoro given a clear and concise answer to last week’s inquiry as to why gas prices are and have historically remained so much higher than the majority of the rest of the country and many parts of Alaska as well. A truthful and forthright explanation was needed instead of “no comment,” as to why, with gasoline and diesel prices below 1 to 2 dollars in most of the lower 48, we are still seeing $3.50 and above here in Haines. It certainly feels like we’re being “bent over” the proverbial oil barrel. On a side note, I am curious as to why the Main Street Tesoro is the only station that does not display its gas prices. I know all of the fuel in town comes from Tesoro but Bigfoot has always kept their prices the lowest. Please consider sending a message to the “No comment” company by only buying your fuel from Bigfoot.
Most people believe a company is guilty of the accusation when a company official says “no comment.” What should you say instead? Try the truth. Even if part of the truth is “we don’t have all the answers yet.” Share what you can. And be frank about what you aren’t at liberty to say. But stonewalling doesn’t cut it today. And “no comment” brands you as guilty long before you’ve had a chance to prove otherwise.
Let’s hear the whole story Tesoro.
