I applaud Sue Folletti for speaking out about the drug problem in Haines in last week’s issue. She couldn’t have said it better. Sharon Resnick however, is incorrect in her statement that very few people in Haines bring drugs into our community. The drugs in our town are far scarier than a drug canine.

Even without a drug dog, why hasn’t the police department already shut the dealers down? We live in a small town where everyone seems to know everyone’s business and the police know who the dealers are. Why are they not getting warrants and taking action?

Addicts live in denial, but our community and borough must not. The Haines Borough needs to end their denial and address the drug epidemic in our town. Do not be naïve! There is no such thing as “a little drug problem”.
