Police, and fire and EMS volunteers responded to a head-on collision early Monday evening at 4.5 Mile after one vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic.

Police chief Heath Scott said officers are investigating the accident involving a Chevy Blazer and Chevy pickup truck. Speeding was not a factor, Scott said.

Both vehicles’s front ends were damaged and are likely totalled, Scott said.

The accident held up traffic for about 45 minutes.

One man was transported to the Haines SEARHC clinic and was treated for a minor injury.
