The congregation of St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church held a send-off picnic for Deacon Georgia Giacobbe and her husband Pete Spade. The couple moved to Haines eight years ago from Maryland. Georgia was a dedicated church volunteer, organized the community food bank, and often led church services when Rev. Jan Hotze was traveling. Congregants gathered at the church property on the Haines Highway, where Georgia led the homily in the small chapel and friends enjoyed a sunny afternoon potluck following the service.
