The Hammer Museum’s annual 4th of July Spike Driving and Nail Pounding competitions were a big success this year.
Over 60 men and women stepped up to the spike and like the section hands of past, each drove home an authentic piece of railroad steel.
Haines’ Wesley Verhamme won the men’s division and Lily Ford, the women’s.
Nearly 250 kids of all ages drove nails to their heads, winning hammer pencils.
Thank you to Hammer Museum supporters Haines Home Building Supply, Lutak Lumber, Olerud’s Market Center, Mud Bay Lumber Co., Miles Furniture and White Pass Railroad for donating to the event.
We’ll see you next year.
