I think it’s obvious by now that Tier 3 is not about saving salmon, it’s about stopping the resource development of a mine and timber sale in the Haines State Forest Resource Management Area. There is no meaningful example that clear-cutting or mining has ever had a negative impact on Southeast salmon. Only from commercial and subsistence fishing … and Mother Nature.

Eric Holle states Tier 3 was first proposed by Klukwan: not true. It was proposed by Guy Archibald with Southeast Alaska Conservation Council at a meeting in Klukwan after showing graphic pictures of the then-recent Mount Polley mine accident in B.C., speculating Klukwan would be next if Constantine mine was developed. Without Klukwan’s endorsement their proposal would fail. Eric Holle also states Constantine is foreign owned and financed! Who cares! We need good paying, long-term, family-oriented jobs and appreciate our Canadian and Japanese friends investing in our and their future.

“You don’t look a gift horse in the mouth,” you roll out the red carpet. A Constantine mine has the potential of being the “perfect mine.” Not an open pit or strip mine but an underground hard rock mine. Located in a remote out-of-sight area but accessible by old logging roads and town. Big salaries. All winter operations, it never rains or snows underground and it’s warm!
