Heavy Equipment Day, sponsored by Alaska Miners Association Haines Chapter, was a resounding success. We owe thanks to the many local volunteers who gave time and displayed equipment so kids of all ages could experience real-world machinery that makes building a community possible. From out of town we wish to thank NC Equipment of Juneau for transporting and setting up your grader and excavator simulators for the young people of Haines to operate, and Bobcat of Juneau for your display of equipment. Thanks also to CMI of Juneau and Local 302 of the Operating Engineers.
Special thanks go to the fair (Jessica Edwards) for allowing us the space to hold this event and Chilkat Snowburners for providing and cooking a great lunch for all who attended. And finally, thanks to the public for attending this special, unique event. We appreciate the outpouring of support.
