The Juneau economy just got a $49,500 boost when the borough bought another study from the McDowell Group. The studiers are going to study old studies as part of the study. That’s what is called job security. Anyway, I think if we have 50,000 bucks to throw around we should spent it in and/or on Haines.

Here are some ideas: build a parking lot at the 7 Mile trailhead. Open the elementary school gym on Sunday afternoons from 4-6 p.m. for families to go in and play around. Clean up the arts garden on Portage Drive and reveal some art. Hire a VPSO to cruise out the road to trouble areas like Mud Bay. Hire a litter control officer. Build an obstacle course at the fairgrounds that people from around the world will come to do. Help HARK. Have a hose with warm water coming out of the fire station so we can wash the grime off our cars and then the town will look better.

There is a telescope at the 26 Mile pullout that hasn’t worked for at least 10 years, maybe someone that cares could fix it or take it out. Put it into the Lutak Dock fund as the state government isn’t going to pay for everything no matter what the Port and Harbor Committee says. Give everyone 25 bucks. I know $25 isn’t much but it would do more for the economy than this study will. C’est la vie.
