I would like to personally thank all those in the Haines community who have been so generous already this Thanksgiving/Christmas season. The need seems to be greater in the community this year, so we have ordered significantly more food for our Christmas food boxes than last year, and we are already getting more requests for assistance
Although we are only a couple of weeks into the season, we are already behind. Unfortunately, our kettles have got off to a slow start and at the time of this letter, we are $2000 behind in our fundraising campaign compared to last year. The good folks in this town have shown us that when there is a need, and they are aware of it, they meet that need.
We here at The Salvation Army in Haines do not do major fundraisers throughout the year, so this is the time when our community can give back and “Help Us, Help Haines.” We are in desperate need of people to sign up to be bell-ringers and spend just a few hours at the kettle to help someone in need. I just felt that if we made Haines aware of the need, they would step up and help us to reach our goal for this season. Once again we thank all the donors, volunteers and friends of The Salvation Army. God bless.
