The Haines Borough will hold a public meeting Monday, Nov. 20, to present a proposed Americans with Disabilities accessibility project to improve access to restrooms in the public safety building.
Funding will come from a Community Development Block Grant provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The project would add new ADA accessible stairs and a ramp at the police and assembly entrances along with revised men’s and women’s restrooms. The project is estimated to cost around $497,000, according to MRV Architects.
The grant requires the borough explain the program, present the proposed project, allow community members to propose alternatives and show it obtained public support.
The meeting will be held in the assembly chambers at 6:30 p.m.
