The interior of the Haines Convention & Visitors Bureau has as new look thanks to Carolann Wooton, director of tourism, and Candi Bradford of Miles Furniture. Bradford assisted Wooton with the new design which features a leather couch and armchairs, two new display cases (donated by Alaska Rod’s) and artwork from Wayne Price, Tresham Gregg and Brian Staurseth.
Wooton hopes to see the lobby of the Visitors Center become “Haines’ living room,” a place where visitors can peruse offerings from local artists and businesses while obtaining information about activities in and around town.
She’s currently looking for more carvings, drawing, jewelry and other artwork from locals. Interested parties are asked to prepare a blurb about who they are and where their products can be found. Rhonda Hinson will be assisting with merchandising materials that are brought in for display.
Artists and businesses wishing to be part of the showcase can contact the Visitors Center at 907-766-6418.
Wooten invites everyone to stop by and see the new space.
