Joe Parnell floats the Chilkat River near 8 Mile last week on his his surfboard while towing a subsistence net. He used empty milk jugs as buoys. Parnell said he has experience surfing in Hawaii and subsistence fishing in Haines, but that he’s never combined those skills.
