Diana Kelm was my anchoring guide and community ambassador, in addition to being an accomplished artist, wordsmith, birder, and gardener. She connected many people through her gracious attentiveness, and loved the whole of Haines. In that spirit, an exceptional headstone was recently installed in the Jones Point Cemetery to honor her presence in our lives; it’s local slate inscribed by local sculptor Judd Mullady. Very much worth a visit, about 20 yards west of the veterans’ flagpole.

I thank everyone for abundant, supportive empathy, and special thanks to Dr. Adam McMahan, the overwhelmingly competent ambulance crews, the Hospice volunteers, Beach Road neighbors, and all who reached out to ease Diana’s final exit.
