A big thank you to everyone who turned out at First Friday to help us welcome the new owner of the bookstore, Darcee Messano. We’d like to give a special shout-out to the generosity of Adam Richard and Amelia Nash of the Fireweed Restaurant for donating all sorts of edible delights! We feel so fortunate to have served our many wonderful customers over the past 19 years.
We’d also like to thank our numerous great employees over the years, especially our “employee of the month” for the last eight years, Kelly Mitchell. It’s been a fun run for us, and a great business to have as we raised our children in Haines. Shopping locally has never been more important, and we encourage the people of Haines to support Darcee as she guides our local independent bookstore – first opened in 1993 by Margaret Sebens – forward into its third generation of stewardship. And don’t worry, we’re staying right here in Haines where we can find a good selection of books to read in our retirement, rain or shine!
