I want to tell you a story. A story of heroes and good neighbors, of people who are one in the same.
I have always known that I live in the most beautiful place in the world. I also live among the most beautiful-hearted people in the world.
You have opened your homes and hearts, and provided my family with everything needed. Thank you especially for your compassion and care. Thank you for the clothes on my back, the food in my family’s body, the dry roof over my head and the courage to go on. I will not forget.
I would like to thank the men and women of the Mosquito Lake Fire and Rescue team and the Klehini Valley Fire Department for coming to the aid of my family when my cabin in Porcupine burned. In the fire, I lost my dog Lilly. The firefighter who found her told me, “I’ll do anything with her you want, anything.”
Your compassion and bravery were heroic to me and this reflects the professionalism of the men and women of the Mosquito Lake firefighters and fire and rescue heroes of this great valley.
I would also like to thank the team at Constantine for being first on the scene with water and shoes, exactly what was needed. Thanks for being a good neighbor. Thank you to Sage and Holly Thomas, Robert Clay, John Terenzi, Mike Lamberty, Shawn McLaughlin, Rafe McGuire, Cade Clay and Chuck Mittman. Bless you.
