Once again, the Uglys of Haines would like to thank the community for supporting our fundraiser for the Cancer Connection. We served a few over 200 meals and auctioned off close to 80 desserts. A few people who couldn’t make it inquired about how to make a donation to this fund. You can drop off cash or check made out to The Uglys of Haines at the Fogcutter or the American Legion or drop it in the mail to P.O. Box 698, Haines, AK 99827.
The top prize-winners of the dessert auction were: Corrie Stickler, first place, for her pig- shaped cake, Toni Dewitt, second place, for her chocolate chip cookies (and jar of smoked salmon) and Suzanne Newton, third place, with her pig-face cake. You all get meals from our food booth at the Southeast Alaska State Fair.
This fund is set up to help out with a $500 check to any local family currently dealing with this horrible disease. We know that this is just a drop in the bucket but hopefully it will help. While we hope to never give out any of this money, it is here to help. There is a simple form to fill out that I keep around at the American Legion, at the SEARHC clinic or request one at P.O. Box 698. Thanks again to everyone who contributed.
