The final conceptual designs for the Portage Cove Interpretive Trail and Harbor Park are set to move on to borough committees after the fifth community meeting Wednesday.
Chris Mertl of Corvus Design presented about 15 community members with the final plans for the 1.5-mile trail and park, reporting that the price estimate was reduced from $6 million to less than $5.8 million for the project.
The conceptual designs are divided into six segments plus the park, and can be pursued independently.

“You implement what you can based on funding, desires and opportunities,” Mertl said.
Mertl said the designs will become a tool for long-term planning and grant funding.
Interim borough manager Brad Ryan said the next step is to have the Planning Commission, Port and Harbor Advisory Committee, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and the Tourism Advisory Board review the final plans and submit recommendations and comments to the assembly.
