Local media outlets won five awards at the Alaska Press Club Conference last month for reporting in 2016.
KHNS won first place for best daily news program in the radio category. Jillian Rogers also took home third place for best feature in radio for her story “Among Wolverines, Lynx and Fox, a Man Finds His Path.”
The Chilkat Valley News won three awards in small publications division. Eileen McIver won first place for best profile for “Public Works Chief Borders Retires.” Karen Garcia won third in the same category for “Magistrate Retiring After 13 Years Lauded for Work Ethic.” Tom Morphet won second place in best reporting on government or politics for “Swollen List of Voters Adds Context to Turnout.”
Emily Files and Abbey Collins of KHNS and Kyle Clayton of the CVN were in Anchorage to accept the awards.
