Recall is a minimum with these individuals: Tresham Gregg, Heather Lende and Tom Morphet! They do not listen. They have and will coerce. They have agendas, both personal and political. They do not consider the majority they are supposed to represent. And they are going down this path unless they are stopped. Morphet alone simply has too much conflict of interest to be in an assembly seat. “I am selling the paper,” he says. Right.
I have seen this behavior often in Haines’ social oligarchy. In small towns, you get a strong caucus of 25-plus-year residents in office and they push for what they think is right from their perspective. It is one thing they believe in things personally, it is another to ignore the majority.
The Haines Borough is a fear-driven, reactionary governing entity. It is a difficult position to negotiate, unless you are doing things for the right reasons. The honorable Mike Case resigned for the right reasons. He took a big forward, progressive step. I think a few on the assembly could learn from his actions. Pull your head out and resign before we recall you!
