Three members of our family volunteer on the Haines ambulance crew. When they respond to a call, especially in the middle of the night, it’s natural to worry for their safety. Sure, there’s the usual innocuous calls, maybe a sweet little old lady has tripped over her cat. But there are also calls involving drugs, alcohol and violence. It’s at those times I am so very thankful for the police officers who attend and make sure the scene is reasonably safe for our volunteers. Knowing they are watching out for my family gives a measure of relief in some perilous situations. Thank you, Haines Police officers.
