I agree with Mike Binkie that Dave Werner’s letter last week was correct on all counts. I worked in the logging industry for more than 40 years with over 30 of those years in Southeast and Southcentral logging camps. I have spent most of my life out in the woods working, hunting, fishing and observing. Based on experience and observation I see few facts, if any, in Eric Holle’s letter.
I was on a committee a few years ago, and when the subject of using wood chips for heat in Haines came up, Eric Holle was the first to object. So much for keeping locals employed. The studies cited are based on computer models that are based on assumptions that contain the modeler’s biases. I believe most of the radical environmentalist’s concerns are not about the environment at all but about control. Good going, Dave.
