New snow and sunshine made last Saturday’s Miles Klehini Classic 10K ski event a huge success. The Haines Ski and Hike Club would like to thank Jim Stanford and State Parks Ranger Travis Russell for grooming an excellent trail despite areas of low snow cover. Haines Borough tourism department and the Southeast Alaska State Fair hosted a fine barbecue with Andus Hale as grillmaster.

A big thank you to the following local businesses for prize donations: Alaska Backcountry Outfitter, Alaska Fjordlines, Fairweather Ski Works, Lutak Lumber, Mountain Market, Outfitter Sporting Goods, Sarah J’s, Sockeye Cycle, and the Southeast Alaska State Fair. Tourism Director Leslie Ross, the Chilkat Valley News, and KHNS got the word out. Bear Star Web Design helps us post current conditions at hainesski.org. Also thanks to the ambulance crew who were ready for any eventualities. Congratulations to all who came out to enjoy great Nordic skiing at 25 Mile!
