The Haines Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee will lead cleaning up the Carr’s Cove area, which has been littered from years of parties and bonfires. The clean-up will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Parks committee member Burl Sheldon said in an email that fire rings and ash piles need digging out. Other garbage like cans, glass bottles and trash also needs to be removed.
Sheldon invites anyone to volunteer. “Many hands” will make the project “a breeze,” Sheldon said.
The committee is looking at the possibility of designating the Carr’s Cove property as a park, making it accessible to people with disabilities, and adding features such as additional parking, benches or a gazebo
