Get in the Halloween spirit by joining Lynn Canal Community Players and the Alaska Arts Confluence for River Talk’s foray into the “Unexplained” on Oct. 20.

Starting at 7 p.m., residents will pack the Chilkat Center lobby – transformed into the cozy Chit Chat Cafe – to hear about their friends’ and neighbors’ experiences with the mysterious, the peculiar, and the downright strange.

Storytellers include Tod Sebens, Helen Alten, Tom Morphet, Joe Parnell, Cheryl Mullins and Savanna Wilson.

Topics run the gamut from political and religious experiences to two people describing encounters with the same ghost in a Los Angeles mansion. There will also be a special “mystery” seventh speaker to round out the evening.

River Talk will take a break in November and December for the holidays, but will return for January, February, March, and April on the third Thursday of each month.

Other themes for the upcoming season include “Fish Tales,” “The Trip from Hell/On the Road,” “Celebrations,” and “Musical Notes.”

Themes are loose and up for liberal interpretation; for example, your road trip may not have been particularly hellish, but memorable for another reason.

If you’re interested in sharing a story on one of these topics, call Carol at 314-0282. At each session, seven local people will tell seven stories for seven minutes each.
