At Tuesday’s Haines Borough Assembly meeting, members conducted a canvass of 30 questioned and absentee ballots from the Oct. 4 municipal election. The votes did not change the election’s outcome.
The final count showed Heather Lende with 501 votes; Tom Morphet, 436; Diana Lapham, 370; Ryan Cook, 305; Judy Erekson, 241, and Leonard Dubber, 150. Lende and Morphet won assembly seats.
Incumbent school board members Lisa Schwartz and Sarah Swinton received 789 and 794 votes, respectively, keeping their seats on the board.
A total 1,031 valid ballots were cast in the election, representing 45 percent of 2,283 registered voters.
In the 2015 municipal election, 838 ballots were cast, or 38 percent of 2,228 registered voters.
The final vote tally included 30 write-in votes for school board seats. No write-ins were cast in the assembly race.
