The Alaska State Museum awarded grant money Monday to the Hammer Museum and the Sheldon Museum for projects and exhibits.

A press release said the Hammer Museum will receive $1,147 to buy ultra-violet window shades. The Sheldon Museum was awarded $5,995 for exhibit production.

The Haines museums are two of 20 that will receive a total of $105,600 in grants for the 2017 fiscal year. The other museums and cultural centers to receive grant money are in Anchorage, Kodiak, Petersburg, Cordova, Eagle, Fairbanks, Hope, Ketchikan, Juneau, Wasilla, Unalaska, Palmer, Sitka, Talkeetna and Valdez.
