The Hospice of Haines (HOH) Volunteer Training just keeps getting better and better. Our licensure with the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services requires that we prepare our volunteers with at least 18 hours of training.

We couldn’t do it without those who volunteer to teach: Thank you to our Bereavement Facilitator, Liz Marantz-Falvey, for your all-inclusive presentations; thank you Shannon McPhetres, our Volunteer Coordinator; Al Badgley, Haines Volunteer Fire Department; Bev McLaughlin of Cornerstone Home Health; HOH board member, Emily McMahan, R.N., and Adam McMahan, M.D.; and thanks to our volunteers Vince Hansen, Patty Kermoian, Diana Edwards and Liz Heywood (who have a combined 40 years of volunteering for HOH).

Thank you to the Haines Community Wellness Center for the wonderful training space. Hooray training “graduates”: Molly Sturdevant, Kristin Hathorn, Ed Hays, Yuko Hays, Amy Robinson, Kip Kermoian, Margaret Sebens and Jen Potratz.

Our nonprofit mission of assisting elders remains strong and viable because our volunteers are deeply caring, selfless and committed to the individuals we serve.

Grateful for the collaboration of all.
