A cruise ship crew member went overboard in the Lynn Canal on Sept. 8. The body of the 25-year-old woman has not been found.

The crew member of the Norwegian Pearl was missing from her cabin early Thursday morning. A security camera video recorded her going overboard while apparently alone, said U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Shawn Eggert. The reason for her going overboard has not been confirmed, he said.

He did not share information on where the ship was in the Lynn Canal, the woman’s name or hometown. The Norwegian Pearl was on a seven-day round-trip from Seattle to Glacier Bay. The ship normally stops in Skagway and Juneau.

The Coast Guard and Alaska State Troopers searched a 340-square-mile area for 42 hours before calling off the hunt. A cutter, helicopters, a fixed wing aircraft and small boats were involved in the search.
