There appear to be competing proposals for the borough’s corner lot 8A at Third Avenue and Main Street. The borough parks and rec committee would like to see it developed as a town square, public use area as put forth in the comprehensive plan. This idea has broad-based community support.

A few individuals have an issue with this proposal and now have expressed interest in purchasing the property to prevent it from being used as a public space. Until a viable business plan with a timeline and financing is put forth, the property should not be sold.

When all proposals are on the table the public can decide their preferred use of the property. There are two new buildings and businesses that just opened their doors on the former school property. It’s time to let the dust settle and decide the best use of the remaining property and how we want to develop it.
