Heath Scott has accepted the job as Haines Borough police chief, but he will hash out contract details with incoming manager William Seward and headhunting firm Brimeyer Fursman, interim manager Brad Ryan said this week.
“We’re going to let (Scott) and Bill Seward start to work out the details of what the contract might look like,” Ryan said.
Ryan said he decided to let Seward negotiate the contract instead of doing so himself. “(Scott) is going to have to work for Seward and they need to have an agreement on terms,” he said.
The borough hasn’t yet signed a contract with Seward, and neither of the two have official start dates, though Seward said during public interviews he could be on the job by June 20.
Scott worked the past eight years as deputy chief of the District of Columbia Protective Services Division in Washington, D.C. Scott called his department a “boutique agency” responsible for protecting facilities and government employees. He also worked as a deputy sheriff and police officer in Arizona from 1995-1998.
