Michael R. McGregor, 32, pleaded guilty on April 28 to committing fourth-degree assault on Dec. 28. An officer responded to Union Street after a man reported McGregor had assaulted him. The man said McGregor knocked on his door, started yelling at him, pushed him down, and repeatedly punched him before leaving the apartment. McGregor later came to the station to make a statement, and said he “whopped him a good one” and “smacked him a few good ones.” McGregor was sentenced to receive alcohol counseling, a $50 fee and one year probation.

Joseph P. Smyth, 54, pleaded guilty on April 28 to giving a false report and reckless driving on Dec. 23. An officer responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Beach Road, where he found a man in the driver’s seat with a sleeping bag and keys in the ignition. The man produced a California driver’s license that said his name was Eric Smyth. Several weeks later, a man came to the station and reported a suspicious person who said his name was Eric but sometimes referred to himself as Patrick. On Feb. 17, the interim chief called the Department of Public Safety to follow up on fingerprint analysis, and discovered the man was Joseph Smyth and wanted for felony assault with a deadly weapon in California. Smyth was sentenced to 210 days in jail, $50 in fees and license revocation for 30 days.

Royce L. Dombrock, 29, pleaded guilty on May 12 to driving with a revoked license on April 11. An officer saw Dombrock driving near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Union Street, and knew Dombrock had a revoked license from a prior conviction for driving under the influence. Dombrock was sentenced to a $500 fine, $50 fee, 90 days of license revocation and one year probation.

Daniel A. Marquardt, 30, pleaded guilty on May 12 to driving under the influence on April 23. While an officer was driving down Old Haines Highway, a vehicle pulled out of a business parking lot without yielding, causing the officer to slam on his brakes to avoid a collision. The officer performed a traffic stop and found Marquardt had bloodshot, watery eyes. Marquardt failed a field sobriety test and blew a .139. Marquardt was sentenced to three days in jail, $1,830 in fines, $125 in fees, 90 days of license revocation, driving with an ignition interlock device for six months and one year probation.

Michael J. Henderson, 35, pleaded guilty on May 18 to unlawful contact on Feb. 21. Police received a report from a woman that Henderson was sleeping in a truck on her property. She said the two had both been at a downtown bar and had gone to her residence, but Henderson refused to leave. Henderson was not allowed to contact the woman due to a prior domestic violence conviction. Henderson was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for time served and $100 in fees.

Darian Walter Bliss, 26, pleaded guilty on April 28 to first-degree unlawful contact on March 22. A man called police to report he saw Bliss and a woman Bliss was not allowed to be with trying to break into a structure on Sixth Avenue. An officer responded and spoke to Bliss, who said he wasn’t with the woman. Police found the woman walking a block away. She eventually admitted she had been with Bliss. Bliss was sentenced to 60 days in jail, a $100 fee, two years’ probation and no contact with the woman.
