With blade-outs and back flips, Charlie Bower of Haines won the advanced division at the 21st annual Olen Nash Memorial Big Air Competition Sunday in Chilkat Pass.

Garrett Kroschel placed second and Cameron Bauer was third. Winner Bower won a day of heli-skiing with Alaska Helishiing.

Gaelen Allen won the beginner’s division, followed by Dalton Henry and Leo Wald.

Allen took home a new snowboard signed by Gigi Ruf, an Austrian professional snowboarder and regular Haines visitor who was on hand for the event, giving away winter gear.

Nine competitors participated. There were no entrants in an intermediate division, said organizer Luck Dunbar.

The event was held near 5 Mile Creek.
