The Haines Borough Assembly on Tuesday voted unanimously to issue a statement of non-objection to the Pilot Light Restaurant’s state application for a beer and wine license.
The Pilot Light, which is opening in Fort Seward where Mosey’s was formerly housed, applied to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for the public convenience license, which would allow it to sell beer and wine.
The assembly didn’t discuss the issue. It received one written public comment from Bamboo Room and Pioneer Bar owner Christy Tengs Fowler, who opposed the issuance of more public convenience licenses around town.
Tengs Fowler argued the issuance of such licenses lowers the value of the transferable Beverage Dispensary Licenses that she and a few other residents hold. (Public convenience licenses are non-transferable.)
