Eight acts are slated for this year’s Northern Light Showcase, an annual display of local talent put on by the Haines Arts Council.
The first showcase is set for 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, in the Chilkat Center lobby. A second event, with a different line-up, is scheduled for April 17.
A silent auction of artworks by residents also will be held during the shows.
Locals scheduled for the March performance are: “Here Comes Treble” (Pam Randles and Amanda Randles); Jae and Jim Lampkins; Dennis Durr, Tully Devine, and Cosmo Fudge; Lilianna Benassi; Debi Knight Kennedy; Tyler Ehrlich; Greg Horner and Fred Shields; and Holly Davis.
All of the performances are musical acts, except Knight Kennedy’s, which is a reading, said arts council co-president Matt Whitman.
“I think the performers really like it because it is that step more professional than an open mic type of venue,” Whitman said. “The crowd is there to listen to music, not to socialize.”
Admission is $8.
Though the March 20 showcase is set, the arts council is looking to fill a few more slots for the April show. To express interest, contact Whitman at 303-0054.
