Residents wanting to weigh in on a new name for the Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center have until Wednesday to get their proposals in.
The museum’s board of trustees in December decided it should involve the community in the change, following public opposition to an October vote to change the name to Haines Museum and Cultural Center.
In December, a majority of trustees expressed interest in changing the building’s name but incorporating “Sheldon.” “Haines Sheldon Community Museum” was a popular suggestion. They also seemed to agree on dropping the “and Cultural Center.”
Suggestions should be sent to [email protected] or to P.O. Box 269, Haines. The board will revisit the issue at its Wednesday meeting at 3:30 p.m.
