The Upper Lynn Canal Fish and Game Advisory Committee passed a resolution of support for Outstanding Natural Resource Water status for the Chilkat River and all its tributaries put forth by Klukwan without knowing what all of it entails, except for the word of Gershon Cohen. The members of the committee didn’t know what was in the resolution. I suggested that they postpone voting for the resolution until they had all the information about the resolution. They voted to recommend the resolution anyhow. I feel it was an error to vote something in without the knowledge of the content of the resolution. Do the citizens of Haines want to have something enacted upon that could have serious repercussions in the future? I understand that the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve Advisory Council voted not to support the resolution.

Editor’s note: The advisory committee passed the resolution, then reversed itself, ultimately defeating it.
