I wonder what the people who actually work at the Haines Borough office think about consultant Darsie Culbeck being paid three times their wage for him to work in and fly up on a plane from Mexico. It can’t be good for morale. My own morale took a hit to find out he was paying Mexican taxis hundreds of dollars in our government funds while our own taxi in Haines can’t operate because the insurance requirement of the borough is so onerous. It’s like having Johnny Manziel on your team: I’ll go party while you guys do the work.
I believe this is a case of “Nice work if you can get it.” Unfortunately for the rest of us, we have people running the borough who see no problem with someone milking the system and mocking the workers. Joe Parnel
