Appearance is everything. And, by all appearances, Darsie Culbeck continues to use the Haines Borough to enrich himself at other residents’ expense. Previously, he would leave his job as executive assistant to work for Constantine Metal Resources whenever it suited him. Now, we pay for him to travel from his winter home in Mexico to Alaska and back to do biomass consulting.
I understand why some people move south for the winter. (I am one of them.) I also understand why some people want to make the most money possible. But, I don’t understand why the Haines Borough – which says it’s strapped for cash – continues to allow public money to be misspent in this way on this one person.
