Like so many before me, I am compelled to put my heartfelt thanks in print for all to hear. The events of the last few weeks have been overwhelming on so many levels. It is still difficult to believe it all happened to me. Above all, it is clear that my prayers – and those of so many others – were heard and answered. The Lord carried me through, bringing together all that was needed to save my life.

I am, of course, forever grateful to my son Nik who was calm and quick to act when I disappeared under the waves, and to my beloved husband who breathed life back into my lungs once on the beach.

I also want to say thank you to the rescue and medical staffs I encountered, not only for being there for me, but for dedicating their lives to such careers. I have a new admiration and respect for anyone who answers that calling. From the crews of TEMSCO Helicopters and the Coast Guard, the emergency room team at Bartlett and the Juneau firemen who lent their aid, to the Guardian Flight crew that carried me to Harborview, where I was especially amazed at the quality of care and compassion I received.

And finally, a million thanks to so many friends far and near who surrounded me with love and support: the prayers, phone calls, visits, cards, flowers, and lately good food – it has been tremendous. Adversity has borne me blessings.
