What would Planet Earth post about humans on its social media profile page?
“Earthbook,” one of 10 short films set to be screened at the Fifth Annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival on Friday, Nov. 13, sets out to answer that question.
The festival starts at 5:30 p.m. at Harriett Hall. It is sponsored by the Southeast Alaska State Fair and the Takshanuk Watershed Council.
In “Earthbook,” the planet fast-forwards through its virtual relationship with humans, questioning whether it really wants to be friends with a species that exploits its natural resources and threatens its ecosystems.
Other films focus on composting, extreme hula-hopping, cycling, mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding and kayaking.
Tickets are $12 in advance at the Babbling Book or at the Southeast Alaska State Fair office. They are $15 at the door.
Beer, wine, pizza, salad and dessert will be for sale.
