Instead of changing the name of the Sheldon Museum to the Haines Museum, it seems like it would make more sense to change the name of the city of Haines to Sheldon. At least Steve Sheldon lived in town, whereas Ms. Haines never even visited here. The town’s name has already changed two or three times. If we changed it again, to Sheldon, we wouldn’t have to re-do the museum sign. Or we could rename both the museum and the town. How about Deishu?
While we’re at it, there are several other names around here that seem to be particularly uninspiring. “Small Tracts Road” doesn’t really have much of a ring to it, does it? How about renaming it Lupine Lane?
Or “Mud Bay Road” – that conjures up quite a picture in my mind. Maybe we could replace that name with Inlet Drive or Pyramid Road.
How about “Mosquito Lake?” If I were a tourist, I could hardly wait to visit Mosquito Lake. Surely there is some more appealing name that we could tack onto that scenic little body of water.
Put all those uninspiring names on a ballot and then have a contest to see who can come up with the most appealing names. The winner gets a street named after them.
Just sayin’.
