I saw the recent write-up on the front page of our paper about the increase of the sea lion population in our waters. Being a resident of Haines for some time now, I have learned there are always two sides to every story. I, myself, and most people in Southeast who work on the water consider sea lions a nuisance animal that should be controlled. They only do harm and eat fish that could help support hard-working fishermen and their families. I wish the state would put a bounty on them. However, in this money-tight economy, I bet I could get enough volunteers to do the job for free. But we should leave one male and one female in case another ark is built.
