Thanks to the donors and board of the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation for a grant supporting construction of two new chariots for the fair’s carousel. Yellow cedar panels carved by Jim Heaton added a beautiful local component to the ride.
Rebuilding the chariots is part of a several phase project to restore the carousel to good condition. Projects to come include replacing mechanical components, reconstructing wood-and-metal horses, and rebuilding the floor and decorative panels.
