Anyone wanting to tune in to next week’s presentation on the Haines Borough’s $41,300 noise study will be able to do so from the comfort of their own couch.
The borough will use a platform called WebEx to hold the online meeting, hosted by Mead and Hunt, the architectural and engineering firm responsible for the noise study.
People can either attend Wednesday’s 5 p.m. meeting in assembly chambers or log on to WebEx and watch the presentation, manager David Sosa said.
“We figured this way is more interactive,” Sosa said. “It allows people to see their faces and it allows so people don’t have to come into the assembly chamber to attend a meeting.”
Sosa will post the link and log-in information on the borough website and Facebook page before the meeting. He will also post a copy of the presentation online beforehand so people can review it and generate questions.
Online viewers will also be able to text in their questions, Sosa said.
“Our back-up plan will be to post the presentation online, and then do the presentation via conference call if WebEx does not function properly,” Sosa said. “We will be conducting a rehearsal on Monday with Mead and Hunt to ensure the process is understood by all.”
