Runners from six Southeast high schools will compete at the Glacier Bears’ home cross-country meet on Saturday. It’s a rare opportunity to cheer on the school’s distance runners as a Haines home meet occurs only once every two years.
The field includes Hoonah, Juneau-Douglas, Mount Edgecumbe, Skagway and Thunder Mountain.
Race times are 1:45 p.m. for girls and 2:30 p.m. for boys. The starting line is at the Southeast Alaska State Fairgrounds parking lot.
The event also features a 3:15 p.m. fun run open to community members. There are no fees for the race; all ages are welcome.
