For yet another year, the Hospice of Haines dessert booth at the Southeast Alaska State Fair was a sweet success. Most folks in Haines know that we are a state-licensed, all-volunteer hospice, which means we neither ask about income nor charge for services. Giving care to local elders is our mission. But there are costs and for this reason we raise funds tirelessly. Because scores of you brought in the most amazing, creative, scrumptious desserts, we raised $3,400! Booth favorites were apple or berry pies, anything chocolate, carrot, or creamy, and Ralph Borders’ cookies. Thank you to everyone who took the time to bake, to volunteer in the booth, and to those who blessed our mission with a sweet tooth donation.
